How to Get Free Junk Journal Printables

Each of the free junk journal printables on this list has been created and is hosted by a different designer or blogger. I've shared a low resolution photo of their freebie, and a link to their site. Head over to the original site to grab the full size, high resolution free item. In some cases you will need to register for a mailing list or site before you can download, but once you do there will be other free printables inside.

Find the MagpiePrintables free resource library here, it is packed with good stuff, including this lovely set of dancing fairies from a Parisian book dated to the 1800s.

The free printables for junk journaling include ephemera, digital paper, dimensional elements and even some planner and writing components. Basically if it is awesome, free and can be used in a junk journal after printing, I am including it.

Junk Journal Freebie #1 Book and Reading Tracker

I have kept a bullet journal for years, and have always created art of some type; I enjoy printables like this one that allow the two relatively different areas of papercraft to come together.

Print this one out in the right size for a junk journal or bullet journal -- and then use a fine marker to add the book titles. A program like Procreate on the iPad also allows you to edit and add the names digitally, but using your own handwriting allows you to update it regularly without a noticeable difference.

This is black and white and ready for your colorful touch. If you're planning on using crayon, pencils or fine markers, then print onto regular copy paper. If you want to use paint or want to dye the page, use a heavy cardstock. For tea or other dying, dye the paper first, then dry, then run through the printer. If you try to dye a printed page the ink could run and make a mess.

Find the full size printable here, and don't forget to look around the site when you're there -- she has a wonderful selection of planner and organizational projects and freebies!

Junk Journal Freebie #2: Patriotic Papers

With Memorial Day just around the corner and Independence Day just a few weeks later, this is the perfect time of year to make some patriotic pieces. Use these lovely full size papers in your junk journal or to make paper items to decorate your home -- they also work well for party and picnic decor pieces.

This set from Multimedia Crafts has 6 full sized sheets that coordinate to make it easy to produce cohesive pages and layouts. I like the vintage vibe of these and that they are a little different from the primary color American Flag combo that is so prevalent elsewhere.

Find these patriotic papers here, you may have to sign up for the mailing list to access them -- and don't forget to double check the licensing for use.

#3 Free Junk Journal Printables for May 2021 Ephemera and Book Pages

Head over to RedwoodRetro to access an amazing library of scanned vintage pages and ads. They're all in one place, so be sure to scroll down. A few of my favorites are below -- most are from the late 1800s and feature families, lifestyle and homes. Head to the freebies here to download directly for the best quality.

The trippy mushrooms are my favorite and remind me of Alice in Wonderland!

#4 Free Junk Journal Printables Free Junk Journal Covers

If you have not visited The Graphics Fairy, you're in for a treat! I subscribe to their premium catalog, because they allow limited commercial use for most of their graphics -- but they also offer a huge variety of free printables and components each month.

There are two stunning garden themed junk journal covers available free right now -- I love the pink and green combo and feminine images! Don't save the photo above, instead, head to the Graphics Fairy and download directly for a high resolution copy of your very own.

#5 Free Junk Journal Printables Patriotic Ephemera

If you liked the patriotic papers above, you'll love the vintage ephemera scans offered here. Head on over to Compass and Ink to grab this nice sized set of images -- there are a bunch of them, in high resolution PDF format for you to print and use.

These have pretty saturated colors and a lot of aging, so make sure your printer is ready for them! If you're not getting the color you want, then this quick troubleshooting guide will help get rid of dull colors, streaks and missing ink patches, regardless of the printer brand.

Don't forget to look around the library here, there are some amazing tags and papers inside!

Wow, this is longer than I thought it would be! Head on over here for Part 2, so you don't miss a single junk journal freebie for May 2021!
